Change your thoughts, change your life.

Some years ago, I was going through a tough time in my life. As we sometimes do, when things get difficult, we search for answers. I was reading a lot of books on healing and spirituality (not religion). I came across this audiobook by Wayne Dyer, titled “Change your thoughts, change your life: Living the wisdom of ‘the Tao” Dr. Dyer himself had spent a year, studying several other interpreterations of Lao Tzu’s, ‘The Tao’. This book was his own interpretation of a handfull of those text. I’m not going to get deep into it here, cause I want to keep it short, but this was one of those books that really did change my life. It made we rethink, about what was important in life, and how to look at the things in my life and around me. It truly was a “Change your thoughts, change your life” thing that happened. So, I’m dedicating this page to both Wayne (which became somewhat of a spiritual mentor to me, whom sadly transcended a few years ago), and Lao Tzu.

I will post some of my favorite quotes here. I believe everyone, should read ‘the Tao’ in some form or another. If you go with Dyer’s version, I would recommend the audiobook. He narrated the books himself.

Here are a few short quotes.

“To lead people, walk behind them."

“Be content with what you have; rejoice in the way things are. When you realize there is nothing lacking, the whole world belongs to you. “

“New beginnings are often disguised as painful endings.”

*“To the mind that is still, the whole universe surrenders.”

“He who is content, is rich."

“Govern a great nation as you would cook a small fish. Do not overdo it."

“In the world there is nothing more submissive and weak than water. Yet for attacking that which is hard and strong nothing can surpass it."

“One can not reflect in streaming water. Only those who know internal peace can give it to others."

“He who talks more, is sooner exhausted."

“The great journey, begins with one step."

“Nature does not hurry, yet everything is accomplished."

– Lao Tzu

Keep in mind, there are many translations out there, you’ll find many variations of his quotes.
